H1N1 Focus Groups:  Your Experiences and Advice are Needed!

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is holding focus groups all over Maryland during July. These focus groups will tell us what Maryland’s people think about the H1N1 Swine Flu, the H1N1 vaccine, and how the State did in dealing with the H1N1 flu.

Focus groups are planned for each of Maryland’s counties and in Baltimore City.  Focus group discussions will last for two hours.

Complete and return the focus group application (see link below) if you are

  • A Maryland resident age 18 up to and including age 64

  • Comfortable reading and speaking in English

  • Interested in taking part in a survey and focus group about H1N1 Flu

We need persons from all racial and ethnic groups to participate.  We want to hear from people who did get an H1N1 vaccination as well as people who did not get an H1N1 vaccination.

Vision

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene envisions a state in which health care services are organized and delivered in a manner designed to eliminate health disparities among its ethnic and racial populations, thereby leading the way to a Healthy Maryland in the New Millennium.

Mission

In fulfillment of the Department’s mission to promote the health of all Maryland citizens, the Health Disparities Initiative shall focus the Department’s resources on eliminating health disparities, partner with statewide organizations in developing policies and implementing programs and monitor and report the progress to elected officials and the public.  The target ethnic/racial groups shall include African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, Asian Americans and Native Americans.
