Less than 10% of the Maryland population reports race other than white or African-American.  This limits our ability to produce sound estimates for the smaller racial groups.  It is the intention of the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities to develop and implement approaches to collecting data about smaller racial and ethnic groups that will allow reliable rates and proportions for disease and disease burden to be developed for these groups.
