This publication, developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, contains statistical information about the population of African Americans infected with HIV/AIDS in the United States. Also discussed are the risk factors and barriers to prevention in African American communities.

 

 

The Maryland Men’s Health Network published this comprehensive report on the status of men's health in the state of Maryland.  This report covers a broad range of health issues, including life expectancy by sex and race; obesity, top causes of death, prostate cancer mortality, the number of men and women in each age group, and an analysis of the life span gender gap.

 

 

Developed by the National Diabetes Education Program, this information sheet discusses the different types of diabetes, risk factors, and the affects of diabetes in African Americans communities. It also provides data and advice on how to prevent heart disease, stroke, and other diabetes complications.

 

 

This fact sheet, developed by the National Institutes of Health, addresses the growing number of reported AIDS cases in minority communities, clinical research that has been done, and current epidemiological research.

 

 

This guide was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to increase understanding of the prostate, prostate cancer, and the different options of screening among African American men. 

 

 

Developed by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, this fact sheet discusses ethnic disparities in drinking patterns. It reviews the social and biological factors that may contribute to these differences, and explains how prevention and treatment efforts have been modified to be more culturally relevant.

 

 

In collaboration with the Office of Minority Health Resource Center, Brigette Settles Scott, MA and Kerrita McClaughlyn produced this publication that discusses what diseases most affect African American men and what prevention efforts can be taken to reduce risks.

 

 

This brochure, produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, presents information specific to African American men regarding how many fruits and vegetables are needed to eat every day for good health.
