Commission for Women
One of the goals of the
Maryland Commission for Women is to bring information to Maryland women
and girls including publications about women's and girls' issues and
their rights, events, organizations, legislation and a community
resources directory.

Maryland Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene
The Center for Maternal and Child Health
The Center for Maternal and Child Health is
part of DHMH’s Family Health Administration. The Center’s mission is to
protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of women,
children and adolescents in Maryland.
Maryland Family Planning and Reproductive
Health Program
The goals of the Maryland Family Planning
and Reproductive Health Program are to reduce unintended pregnancy and
improve pregnancy outcomes by assuring that comprehensive, quality
family planning and reproductive health services are available and
accessible to Maryland citizens in need.
Maternal and Perinatal Health Program
The goal of
the Maternal and Perinatal Health Program is to prevent maternal and
infant deaths and other adverse perinatal outcomes by promoting
preconception health, assuring early entry into prenatal care, and
improving perinatal care.
Women’s Health Program
The Women’s Health Program is part of DHMH’s
Family Health Administration. The goal of the Program is to assess and
address health issues that commonly, uniquely, or disproportionately
affect women throughout their life span. Women’s Health will partner
with other program areas to facilitate access to comprehensive
preventive and primary care services that incorporate the unique needs
of women.
Women Infants and Children Program (WIC)
The Maryland WIC Program is a supplemental
nutrition program for women, infants and children under the age of
five. The mission of the WIC Program is to assist eligible women,
infants and children to achieve improved nutrition and health status by
providing nutrition education, selected supplemental foods, and health
referrals in a caring, supportive environment.

Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health
The mission of the
Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health is to work in
partnership with American Indian tribes to raise the health status and
self sufficiency of American Indian people to the highest possible
level. This mission is accomplished through three core activities: 1)
research, 2) service, and 3) training. Two of the Center’s research and
intervention projects that focus on women’s health issues including:
family strengthening for teen moms and post-partum depression
prevention.

Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA)
Women of Color Network
The Maryland
Coalition Against Sexual Assault is a statewide collective voice
advocating for accessible, compassionate care for survivors of sexual
crimes, and accountability for all offenders. MCASA works to end sexual
violence through advocacy, education, community outreach, and technical
assistance. The mission of the Women of Color Network is to promote
education, advocacy and leadership in communities in order to improve
service delivery to victims.

Women Counseling and Career Center’s primary focus is to identify
inequities in laws, policies, practices and procedures, and recommend
and promote remedies.

The American Medical
Women’s Association is a national organization of women physicians and
medical student dedicated to promoting women’s health, improving the

The Black Women’s
Health Imperative is an African American health education, research,
advocacy and leadership development institution. Its mission is to
promote optimum health for Black women across the life span—physically,

Women’s health is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing

Health Organization
The Mautner Project improves the health of

cancer as well as enhance the quality of life for cancer survivors. The
Women of Color portion of this website provides cancer related
information for subgroups of the four major ethnic groups.
